I built a 26-man roster using only fictional baseball players from movies and TV, 1975–2026. No real players. Peak fictional form only. Cultural impact matters. Film metrics matter. Absurdity absolutely matters.
The Starting Lineup
The committee has spoken. The vote was allegedly counted. Legal counsel has advised us not to explain the methodology.

🍅 91% Tomatometer 🍿 88% Popcornmeter
Clubhouse Whisper: He enters to save the game, the brand, and whatever remains of his self-image. Only one thing is guaranteed. “You’re f****** out!”
Special Roles:
A peanuts groundscrew might be the most fun thing to observe.
Roger Dorn becoming an agent makes more sense to me. I didn’t like the ownership role he was given in Major League II.
Rachel Phelps is banned.
Organizational Structure:
Richard Pryor as commissioner is not a baseball decision; it’s a public service. I want him in a boardroom full of owners, listening to one of them complain about payroll, TV rights, or competitive balance, then smiling like he just heard the dumbest thing alive, then he’d reduce the whole room to ash before the coffee cooled off.
The Heywoods at the top might be something special
Two scouts walk into a bar, Capadino and Perocolo. Sounds a bit like Abbott & Costello
Note: there is no Traveling Secretary
Monty, delivering one-word reports from the dugout.
A little recap:
This started as a stupid idea. Then it became a spreadsheet. Then, the scouting reports. Then a front office. Then a 26-man roster. One thing that I noticed doing this is that lefties are scarce!
Somewhere along the way, I realized I hadn’t been working on this for months. I’d been working on it my entire life. Every baseball movie, every Saturday afternoon on the couch, every quote I still remember, every argument over which baseball flick was number one.
Is it overanalyzed? Absolutely. That’s the point, you are now burdened with what comes out of my head. What’s probably more concerning is that this isn’t the only roster.
There’s already a AAA affiliate. Coaches, front office, broadcast booth. Organizational depth, with prospects, promotions, and demotions. I’m one slow day away from scheduling a fictional Winter Meetings.
I regret nothing.
If you disagree, congratulations. You are now on the selection committee. We can discuss this after the minor league team drops.
This is what happens when I’m left unsupervised with baseball, movies, and a computer. If you want that same energy pointed at your team, athlete, brand, or project. I’m available. DM or email at crod@9inningnomad.com

Bro, who's on the taxi squad for double headers?
Very creative. Nicely done!
