Coaching is bigger than the game. It’s showing up for people, learning who they are, and building trust over time. And that stuff sticks with a player long after the season ends.

He still gets random calls from former players thanking him, telling him what they’re doing now, and letting him know they’re succeeding. That’s the real part of coaching. You teach baseball, but the relationship can stay with a kid for life.
